Just over a year ago, I acquired a used Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 hard body by RC4WD. I stripped the paint, cut the doors out, (mod blog here), and painted it as new. I have driven my Gelande 2 chassis with this body and have quite a few videos to show for it but it was always annoying to have to swop bodies on the same chassis, remove the hi-lift, and some other minor stuff. As luck would have it, I found an affordable chassis to go with the second Land Cruiser body I have. As faith would have it, it is the same chassis the second Land Cruiser body originally came out with, but I got it from someone who got it from the original owner who converted it to a D90 body, hence why the second LandCruiser body was for sale, to begin with. I also managed to get my hands on the original Land Cruiser bumpers and body mounts. I now have the FULL version of this Genlande 2 Land Cruiser as it came from RC4WD. Who would have even thought it would all come together once again. It is staying as it is
Here is the chassis. It is in pretty good condition. Just needs some TLC and it will be up to spec in no time
I am setting this one up with the same electronics as I have on the other chassis. Why reinvent the wheel when it already works fine? Again here we have a 55T brushed motor as on the other one. The gearing on the Gelande 2 is not as low as I would like it to be but with the 55T and some radio tuning, it does very well.
So this one too gets the Savox SW-1210SG. Plenty of torque for the tiny 1.55 wheels
One of the known weak links of the Gelande 2. The drive shafts. Personally I think they are complete rubbish, so I'll change them to MIP driveshafts and never think about them again. Will have to order these.
A few years ago I was given this winch as a birthday present by a couple of friends of mine while at a RECON G6 event. Time to use it
Located in the right position, it simply looks amazing.
Painted the inner side of the rear light lenses red. Will also use red LEDs which will look amazing during a night trail. The white ones will be used for reverse lights. Simply solder a 12v capable (3S lipo) LED for each side and wire them directly into the motor, but put the red wire with the (-) and the black wire with the (+) on your brushed motor. The LEDs will only switch on you reverse
… and here they are, side by side. The one on the left, the new one for the yellow FJ40 while the one on the right is for the blue BJ40, has black 1.55 steel wheels with Boom Racing 1.55 Hustler Tyres
Here they are side by side. So pleased that I now have them both
I still need parts, namely: 2 x ESCs (drive and winch) 1 x MIP driveshafts 1 x 6 ch receiver 1 x 25T servo horn One day at a time |
