Installing the Rear Skid Plate for the Toyota LC70 Body I bought the Rear Skid Plate for BRX01 LC70 Body. The rear light panel was going to snap off any time, it needed protection. I bought the rear bumper for the LC70 but I ended up adding to the existing problem. The rear bumper made driving a nightmare. The second the RC drove down a small step., the rear bumper (because of the way it attaches) hangs up the car with the rear wheels up in the air. Something needed to be done, I was actually considering shelving the BRX01. It was making driving it not fun. I had made a financial investment in this car and didn't want to shelf it, so I am now going to try the Rear Skid Plate in the image below. Everyone says its an awesome add-on, so here's to proving them right!!
It comes with the necessary hardware, though, in my opinion I think it would have been better with self tapping screws and 2mm longer.
Here's an image of the rear area with all the wires exposed. I can see that if this works, it is going to be a win win situation
Here's an image of the skid plate installed. All nice and neat there now, and also protects the wires. Good.
Here's an image of the bed showing the screws used to attach the skid plate. I must say, it was not straight forward to screw these in. One hole did not align and had to "assist drill" the start of a new one for the screw to go in. I did pre-thread the screws into place before attempting to mount it, however it was not as easy as it should have been. Maybe this was because of the wires getting in the way, not sure. It could be others have had no problem at all. Just be aware when installing yours with all the wires in place.
Here is a side view image of the skid plate in place. It should be a good help towards not getting stuck and protecting the rear lights plate.
Here's an image of the same thing but with on the ground. Clearance is still good
I will take it out soon and am pretty sure it will do as everyone says it does!
