Now I started working on the fuel tank. Made a cylinder out of a flat piece of styrene and rolled it up. Glued it. Let it set. Then heated  2 other pieces of styrene over a roll of electrical tape, which happened to be the correct size as the cylinder itself, and pushed down the middle part with the round handle of a screwdriver. This stretched out the middle part making it the right shape for the side of the fuel tank. Glued those in place and clamped it all down with a very little pressure.

Then made the base for it and the mounting brackets. Glued it all after sanding it all down and grinding down the excess material on the sides.

Drilled a hole into the correct place where I wanted the filler cap to be and used a short piece of 6mm solid aluminum rod and pushed onto one end a very short piece of aluminous tubing with a 6mm inside diameter. I think it makes a good fuel filler complete with fuel cap

And last, but not least, the 1:1 fuel tanks have steel belts around them. Well, this one has zip ties, but once its all painted, no one will know the difference

More to follow soon…
