New body for a new build

You need to register or sign-in to post or reply - it's free

Looking at my SCX10 ii axles on the shelf and wondering what to put them under. I've always loved the Hilux and this picture I found on Facebook this morning ticked all the boxes.

My first question is where to get it from. I've seen many on eBay and other sites but not all come complete and not sure which are to good ones and which aren't.

Wish to keep this build as scale and stock as possible but will allow for wheel width, even without wheel arches. I love a good set of chunky wheels on any truck

Second question is how will it fit over SCX10 ii axles while my third question is will it fit over an SCX10 (non stock) chassis, which is what I plan on using.

Where to put the battery. I am going to put the motor and transmission up front under the hood while I use a transfercase under the full interior. Not keen at all with a 6000mah lipo under the bed at the rear!!

Ideas anyone?

Ok SCx10 chassis will fit under the hilux body. They even make body mounts specific for it and the SCX10. Axles are slightly wider then the body so most people will fit rubber fenders to compensate for that. When it comes to getting the body. There are a few options. You can either order a HG407 body which I seen for around £90 and the a copy of the bruiser. Tamiya still do parts for the bruiser but they are not cheap. Also RC4WD have a complete set for the TF2. Now the difference between TF2 and tamiya is TF2 has square lights. Tamiya has round but the front panel can be changed. I am building a TF2 body truggy on my scx10 2 if you want some picture reference

Googled the HG407 body. I was going to write a note in my original post about the bed .. The HG407 has 2 holes in the bed which I am not too keen on. I know they can easily be filled in with something or other but .. Its an option. Have to decide between the round and square lights .. Square is sexy while round is the old wayto go in my opinion., again, but. And as for the bumper, I will not be keeping the stock on, so if it does not come off, it will be cut off, front and rear! Will find something nice for that too eventually

Bumpers are not fixed to the body and can be replaced easy. Think the HG body is way cheaper then the RC4WD one and its the same quality. So might be a better option getting that and do some work on it. Other thing to consider is interior as it will not fit over the standard SCX10 gearbox I think. Haven’t got that far with my SCX10 2 build yet. Also you will need to shorten your links.

Thanks for that - it looks like I need to so a lot of research as to which to get and what to get for it besides the obvious.

Like I said, motor and transmission up front wth a transfercase in the middle to fit under the seats

Thanks for the link!

I don’t know the size of the battery but you might be able to put it behind the seat so it will be between the cab and the bed sideways like on a TF2??

Check in Bang good for the HG body. Also have a look at this guy on eBay for bumpers and other bits.

My old way of thinking is putting an image in my head of that bumper all scratched on the rocks

Found this. Looks like it comes with a full interior but not stated. Says something about dashboard.

Ok, just found out it comes with just the dashboard. The interior comes in two models, for the SCX10 i & ii, and for the RC4WD chassis. Problem is the interior costs as much as the whole body x 1.5   Now to see it on the SCX10 ii axles. This has an interior cage and a full interior. I like it because you can use the SCX10 old transmission case with it. It and I won't have to stock up on new spares for the SCX10 ii transmission

Wow that’s expensive!!! I am fitting a Toyota body to an SCX10 2. What I am going to do is cut away here and there just to make it fit over the transmission. I got the raw builders kit so my gearbox is similar to the SCX10 1

Wish to find something more affordable You can find body parts on eBay but not a full setup and by the time you buy all the parts you're back to square one

Did you look on Bang good for the HG407 body?? That might come complete at reasonable price.

Cheers. Do you have SCX10 ii axles on any of your RCs so I can see the body on them?
