Locomotive Maintenance Yard.

This is the last part of the layout left for me to build. The track plan changed a few times over the past few days but I finally made the decision. This one is it!!

I started with the cork underlay for the main line that leads to this yard.

Then installed the turnouts keeping in mind the space needed for the servos under the baseboard. The closest turnout might be a problem to install the servo because of the restricted space, so I will have to get creative with this one.

This is the end product. The two sidings on the left will be the main garage. The 3rd and 4th sidings are simply there to house locomotives that are waiting to be serviced.

The one on the far left in the image below is for the locos that need to visit the pit to be able to reverse into the second garage.

Here's an aerial view of this side of the layout

The straight tracks are only held down with a screw for the time being because I ran out of insulated joiners and so I cannot glue the track down.

The styrene under the track is something I was experimenting with. Later I realised that I could have used a sheet of cork instead which would have done the same job, as I will be covering this with more styrene to create a concrete platform around the track. The loco in this image will be parked in the main garage, if and when I will ever get to build these buildings from scratch
