Constructing the Engine Shed from Scratch - Part 2

Part 1 can be found here

Before proceeding with the rest of this post, I want to provide you with a visual representation of the desired appearance of the building. The inspiration for my engine shed comes from a common local warehouse/factory structure dating back to the 70s/80s. I aim to incorporate the distinctive features of this era into the design of my engine shed.

Beginning with the process of adhering to the wall, the glue quickly dries, allowing me to proceed seamlessly to the next one.

Here, the structure is intact as a single piece. Before incorporating any details and while the glue is not yet fully dried, I'm eager to test it out on the layout.

I positioned it in its designated spot and verified that the loco could enter and park on the siding to the left.

It's worth mentioning that I should have allowed for more space between the 2nd and 3rd siding to ensure ample room when the local enters the 3rd siding, allowing more light through the lower windows in the building, but...

I will shift the entire building at least 1mm toward this side.

Now, onto some features. Creating a 2mm gap, adhering to a 1mm strip, followed by another 2mm gap for an additional 1mm strip—this process had to be repeated 18 times around the building.

As I performed this task, I incorporated additional styrene to emulate thicker walls above, between, and below the windows.

I believe I experienced some effects from the glue fumes today while completing the exterior wall details. I cut the roof and inserted it in place, creating a gap for a skylight.

The next step involves painting and installing all the windows, a door, and the roller shutter. With a bit of luck, it might even be motorized!

Part 3 out next in 2024 so until then, happy new year to all my followers
