Colouring the rocks

I had plastered a scrap piece of polystyrene the other day to teat the colouring method I was going to use on the layout.

I first mixed some water with some black dye and painted it on generously all over the surface, allowing the extra colour to run down the surface of the rocks.

Before allowing the first coating to dry, I mixed another amount of water with some yellow dye and once again painter the whole surface, but this time, not so generously. When that was done, I coated the whole surface with the black mixture once again, and this is the result. Might add some red touches, not sure.
