Train station scratch build.

This is the station that I wish to replicate in N Gauge (1:148 scale). The last time this operated as a train station was in 1933. Today, this is a restaurant.

I was given a scale drawing of the 1:1 old train station in Rabat, Malta. All I needed to do is print it onto an A4 sheet, cut out the walls, glue them onto some styrene, and start shaping it.

Here you can see the 4 walls glued together. I should have cut out the doors and windows before glueing them but.... still learning..

So, I did it the hard way. I slipped in a solid piece of wood to fit the inside of the station. I cut some holes in the windows and doors and started filing away until I reached their outline. The glued printout came off in pieces as I worked.

That done, I sanded it down for a better finish, and glued the different layers for the 3D effect I was looking for and as shown on the original building. Then I moved to the windows sills.

The windows on the left are different to the windows on the right, as you can also see on the original building.

Tomorrow I will continue with the windows and door surrounds for more 3D effect...
