Balustrades for the balconies...

I realised I was avoiding this part when I went to the workshop twice and did a 180-degree turn .. but 3rd time's a charm...

I started doing this, although they are only 2mm thick and 6mm long, having not so good eyesight and big fingers do not help.

All my plans went out of the window yesterday when I painted the houses. The original plan was to paint the bottom half white .. that didn't happen and nor did the idea of having 12 balustrades on the front on this balcony. Obviously, there were not going to fit but surprisingly 3 on each side look good to me...

So, cutting a 3mm wide piece of 1mm styrene, for as long as the edge happened to be, the aim was to spread them evenly. I calculated a hole every 4mm, leaving a 2mm gap between each balustrade...

I started by drilling 2mm holes where marked, placed the drilled piece of styrene on the balcony floor and drilled through the styrene strip and the balcony floor... This should make hole aligning easy...

Pushed in the balustrades in each hole in the balcony, after which I pushed the styrene strip onto the top ends of the balustrades...

After about 10 minutes of fiddling about, I applied a bead of PVA on the top part and left it overnight to allow it to dry well enough to be able to continue working on it tomorrow...

I did the same with 2 sides of the other balcony with the 3rd side in a set of tweezers glued and waiting to dry before installing it in place, also tomorrow.

I must say that the end result so far is so very satisfying and am looking forward to finishing off the rest of the balustrades...
