So, I decided to scrap my layout... and start a new one

The first thing I needed to do is throw everything out of my hobby room and get it all organised. I plan to get all the workspace I had and convert it into the layout baseboard and add about 50% more surface area.

So I made new shelves for my 1/10th scale crawlers. They are now high enough to be out of the way but low enough to reach. Perfect   I added a second shelf to store model railway stuff. It's N Gauge, it will fit anywhere I even managed to squeeze in Hal-Zuzzu village on the top left shelf. There's a better picture further down this post.

Then I built similar shelving on the other walls to accommodate other items which were already in the room. I threw out many items, but I was not ready to throw everything out for the sake of having a larger layout. I got some plastic storage boxes for the size shelving I built and they are doing an excellent job. For the time being, I just threw in what I thought went together in one box, but I am already noticing I have no idea what is in which box. I see myself sorting it all out one day (!!)

The village of Hal-Zuzzu, stored safely out of the way for the time being

Then I started working on the new surface extension.

Obviously, there was the need for some shelving under the layout. The inflatable kayak under the layout fits like a glove

After sorting 90% of the items and building the needed shelving, I started laying some tracks. The surface is going to be a 10 lane fiddle yard serving traffic from 2 directions. This is the start .... enjoying this 100% already
